W9Q4FY12
I once asked a coworker at a different dept to include further parts in addition to the regular parts on the monthly spend report that she performed, and she reported that her supervisor, who then said their dept was very busy and would see if they could accommodate the request in a few months. Then, her manager sent another email to include the director, assistant director of my dept (skipping the manager) and said that a request like that should be approved by them. Please ask them for approval first. I was horribly mad. Still mad just thinking about it. People are very protective of their own little world for job-security. They move slowly. They don't like to share. They don't like to do more. and I got slapped hard for taking a little initiative.

Date value
Today we learned about how to count months through year() and month(). And how to induce the value of a certain date , date(yyyy,mm,dd) to be embedded in the formula.
Thursday, April 26, 2012
Today's formula =text(value, "yyyy-mm")
today we learned to format the date to see year and months only. It was really simple. much easier than doing the concatenate formula
to bring it out.
The transpose function is a gem. I was stupidly doing it line by line without knowing that I would do it in batch.

Struggling
Still struggling with the government job. I just feel more stupid with each passing day. It is a waste of energy and mind or life in general. I just can't find a balance yet. I don't know why there has to be a union that would make sure the people least knowledgeable, progressive keep their job forever. That's so against my nature. But with the health issue in the way, i can't seem to get anywhere. But i don't want to sit and rot. My dilema.

Index vs. Match
Today I learned about Index (return value based on R and C location) and Match (return the number based on the value provided.)
Then, I came up with this useless formua
=INDEX(Ben!A1:I1000,MATCH(VLOOKUP(A11,Ben!A:I,9,FALSE),Ben!I1:I1000,0),9)
I was trying to retrieve the value from another sheet, but wanted to retain the format. Apparently, I need to write a macro for that. It would be my next little project here.

Conditional formatting
I Was also able to set up some formatting based on the comparison between 2 cells. I still feel good. I would definitely go for the 1822.
The thought of promoting a high-school graduate to Purchaser just pisses me off. Hahaha. I am jealous.

New formula to use =eomonth
if we use =EOMonth(8/25/2011,0), it would return a value of August/31/2011). change 0 to 1, we will get September. Isn't that cool?
The people here are not very good with excel. oh, well. they don't have to.... it's all about contract. I think I would go for the 1822 position.
I also just installed iMacros. Yes!!!!
